Francis Brebner

Francis brings a wealth of experience to his role as the Judge of the Pro class. Originally from Peterhead Scotland. Francis comes from very strong Scottish backgrounds, on his mothers side of the family which are the McLemans that can be traced back centuries. Francis is in fact the 22nd generation great grandson of Edward the Bruce King of Ireland, Edwards brother was the more well known Robert the Bruce King of Scotland.
Francis now resides in San Clemente CA. Francis was a top highland games athlete for many years and has travelled all over the World. He was a seven times World Caber Champion, former SGA World Highland games Champion, former World record in the 28lb and 56lb weight for distance as well as overall Scottish Champion. Since retiring from the sport Francis has spent every spare moment in building the IHGF – International Highland Games Federation which was first founded in 2001 which sanction World and National Championship world wide .

M.A.S.A. (Mid-Atlantic Scottish Athletics) was founded in 1999 by Heavy Events Athletes and Judges in the Mid-Atlantic region of the eastern United States to organize and promote the Heavy Events. M.A.S.A. is now the official sanctioning organization of the majority of the Heavy Events competitions held in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Kentucky.

Stones of Strength
Get Ready for the Carroll County Celtic Festival!
We’re proud to announce that the Carroll County Celtic Festival will once again be part of the IHGF All-American Highland Games Qualifying Series!
This is your chance to witness incredible strength, skill, and tradition as top athletes compete in the following divisions:
- Men’s & Women’s Lightweight
- Open Group
- Masters 40+
- Masters 50+
- Masters 60+
The top two finishers in each of these divisions will qualify for the IHGF National Highland Games Championships in Oklahoma City this November!
But that’s not all…
Top athletes in the Women’s Lightweight Division, and the Men’s & Women’s A Group Divisions will earn the honor of representing their country at the 2026 IHGF World Amateur Highland Games Championships!
Come celebrate heritage, competition, and community—don’t miss it!
