The Appin Regiment

The Appin Regiment/Appin Historical Society, is a northern Virginia based living history group portraying the Appin Stewarts in the army of Prince Charles Edward Stuart of Scotland in 1745-46.

The Welsh Court of Powys Fadog,

Today, the Swordsmen are portraying members of the Welsh Court of Powys Fadog in 1255. Their prince, Gruffyd II ap Llwellyn, is preparing for the call to arms in support of Llwellyn ap Gryffud, who is seeking to be recognized as Prince of Wales.

Jaimie’s Bairns 1590’s Border Reivers

Jaimie’s Bairns is a living history group that educates the public about the turbulent history of the Scottish Border Reivers. In our camp, it is 1596 at a Truce Day near the English West March. The English Warden Lord Scrope is concerned that Jaimie Graham and his “Bairns ” are in attendance, heavily armed and ‘like to make mischief.’ Come in and see whether they make work for the local surgeon!

Looped in Fiber Arts

Diana Buck from Looped In Fiber Arts demonstrates textiles arts with Njordh’rs Wanderers. She can be found weaving historically based fabrics, such as twill, broken diamond twill, varafeldur, and åkle on an ancient style of loom called a Warp Weighted Loom.

Our camp demonstrates two camps of the celtic and roman world colliding and transforming in 4th century, show side by side with the celtic world and nordic world colliding in the 9th century, showcasing the evolution of western Britain as Britons, Romans, Gaels and vikings all interact with eachother. 
 

 

COLHA

Combined Operations Living History Associations

COLHA is a group of dedicated living historians that strive to accurately portray the history of the British Commandos during the Second World War. Members of COLHA will be presenting a Bren Section of No. 4 Army Commando during Operation Overlord (aka D-Day) in June 1944.  Formed in 1940, No. 4 Army Commando had strong ties to Scotland. The Commando spent much of the war stationed and training in Ayrshire, and was led by Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat.  This year’s display will focus on the fighting during the 14 and 15 of June 1944

Wilde Irishe is a living history group centered in the Mid-Atlantic USA. We portray military and civilian Gaelic Irish of the period 1550-1600, when they waged a series of rebellions to maintain their political and cultural independence against the Dublin-based crown authorities of Tudor England.
