  • Dance Workshop with Kate Spanos!

Bring your kids to learn old style Irish dance with Kate Spanos! Sean-nós (“old style”) dance is a rhythmic and improvised style of Irish dancing, closely tied to traditional music. Students will learn the basics of making sounds with their feet in time to the music. Best for ages 5+.

  • Stop by Children’s Activities in front of the Alesia building and get your Heritage Passport.  Collect stamps and stickers to earn a prize!
  • Dance groups will be performing throughout the day in the Shipley Arena.
  • Stilt walkers and more!
  • Tin whistle class for beginners of all ages. Learn a tune and basic ornamentation and technique.
     
    Carbony whistles will be provided or bring your own. 

    The tin whistler workshop will be held at 1:00 on Saturday and at 11:00 on Sunday in the Blizzard Building.

  • NEW THIS YEAR….. is the KID’S ZONE!  Try out axe throwing, or golf putting, or lawn darts, or bouncy critter riding, or cornhole, or curling just like you’ve seen in the Olympics!  This is your chance to get a little energy out and try a few things.  Parental supervision is required! Chairs for parents and indoor bathrooms are right there!
  • Work on a craft project to take home with you (while supplies last).
  • NEW THIS YEAR………Highland Cow Story Time!  The lovely Ms. Heather at Sheppard Farm has written a children’s book all about a Highland Cow and how family comes in all shapes and sizes, and this year she’s inviting children to the new Storytime corner in the Alesia Building at 11 & 4 on Saturday and 11 & 3 on Sunday to hear the story of Winter, a Scottish Highland Calf!
  • Make sure you stop by the living history section of the festival to see how Celtic people lived in years past. 
  • Stop by the interactive experience of a Gaelic village presented by the Gaelic School of Baltimore.  Look for the big tent.
  • Check in with the Children’s Activities folks for information on where budding athletes will get an opportunity to test their skill at highland games.
