We are honored to once again have David Ricklis act as the Drum Major for the Carroll County Celtic Festival.

David is responsible for contacting and scheduling the pipe bands, developing the on-field displays, and, in a pinch, stepping in to lead the bands on and off the field in an orderly, military, and musical manner.

David began his more than 5o-year pipe band career as a Drum Major in 1966 while attending the Robert E. Peary High School in Rockville.  After graduation, he continued with Denny & Dunipace, Clan Campbell/Dunloggin, and MacMillan United.  He also had a successful competition career and served as the Senior Drum Major and competition judge at highland games from Ontario to Florida and the East Coast to Texas.  In addition, he has had the privilege of performing at the White House during the Nation’s Bicentennial, the Kenney Center Honors salute to Sean Connery, and again at the White House for a St. Patrick’s Day performance for the Irish Ambassador and President Obama.  One of his most treasured honors is the 2017 Spirit of Scotland Award that was presented to him by the St. Andrews Society of Mid Maryland.
